Building Maintenance For Winter Checking roof gutters masonry removing loose paint on Cherry Picker

What checks should you make to prepare your building for winter.

Andrew shows how to safely inspect clean and repair your building.

We start with checking roof tiles and identifying roofing repairs where there are some missing roof slates some slipped roof tiles and some cracked roof tiles.

We inspect gutters for blockages with leaves and moss and remove those before clearing moss of gutter joints and sealing gutter to prevent leaks

Moving down the building we identify loose mortar which is removed before the brickwork will need pointing up.

Loose flakes of paint paint are removed to prepare the building for painting to waterproof for winter.

Finally we inspect the silicon around the UPVC windows and identify any areas which need resealing.

All this work was done safely from a genie cherry 🍒 picker with a 16m reach and 4×4 drive and stabilisation features. The cherry picker was fenced off with safety barriers and cones to create a safe pedestrian pathway around the machine.

Always work safely at height if you can’t use a Genie cherry picker use a ladder with a colleague holding and watching you for safety or have a ladder stay and tie off your ladder to keep you safe.
